So I just found out that Tumblr allows the SWF format through some weird convoluted method of upload. So I’m just gonna go ahead and rectify the file format compromises I’ve made over the past two years, and upload my Flash files as actual Flash files. JUSTICE!

So yeah. Next few posts are just things you’ve probably already seen.

Without further ado, since there has been a whole lot of ado all up in this piece, here is the grand premiere of the latest episode of Baman Piderman, “Play Da Concert”, the second longest episode trailing right after “Ghost Night”. Since this one has the potential to be the last, we wanted to go out with a bang, and by bang I mean never sleeping for like two weeks. Was it worth it? Yes, always, of course.

I’d like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all he fans of Baman Piderman and all of our wonderful friends, the breadth of the way you’ve touched our lives through this little show means more to me then perhaps I’ll ever be able to articulate.

As Baman Piderman is cancelled by a channel currently featuring a video called “Deep Space 69: The Legend of Bronze Johnson”, it occurs to me that perhaps this is an opportunity for this series to find the best home for itself. There’s just gotta be a place in this big ol’ internet willing to give a chance to a heartwarming cartoon that’s been cast aside in favour of dick jokes and welcome it with open arms (and by open arms I mean an ad-revenue program of some sort). Fingers crossed…

After a fairly brief delay due to a stomach infection, Baman Piderman is back with a brand new episode on December 12th! Filled with intrigue, action, and potentially a tuba solo? All good things basically.

I have a very heavy heart to write this, but as this episode comes to a close, so does the series for a while.. Mondo Media is working on some stuff right now and unfortunately cannot afford to fund Baman Piderman, and some of their other shows, anymore. They really are doing all they can to pull for our show and others, but.. well. The internet is tough. What does this mean for us? Well, until further notice this might be the last episode, and Alex and I have to look for new jobs. I am most sorry that it has to end on what would not be the end of the season, but on a fairly random episode.

This show has been my baby and my life for some years, particularly this year when Mondo gave us the very, very gracious opportunity to go full time and produce tons of wonderful episodes. I am so grateful for the chance they gave us to do so; it’s the happiest I’d ever been. Leaving my full time job to do this cartoon was like a dream come true, and I’ll never forget the things I’ve learned from it, or the friends I have made. I could never have asked for anything more.

The internet is like a jigsaw puzzle that keeps getting the pieces shaken up whenever you manage to put a few of them together, a fact Alex and I both knew when we quit our steady jobs to start jigsawing away. What is the puzzle a picture of? A cat? A lady on a swing? A Thomas Kinkade painting of a cat lady on a swing in front of a lit up cottage at Christmas time?? We might never know, but I will never regret the decision we made to pursue it. It has been a wonderful gift to be able to make creative, unfettered content for you guys for even this long. I am not wealthy, but I am blessed beyond belief.

I hope I hope I hope the show might be able to come back. It’s a lovely thought for sure.. but even if things don’t work out, such is life, I want to express my abundant gratitude to all of you who have watched the show, created fan art, music, costumes, those who came to the livestreams, people who’ve followed along with me on tumblr, everyone. The fans are the best, you made every late night worthwhile ten fold.

I will keep everyone posted for sure, whether about new developments or updates of me face down on the floor sobbing into the abyss. You know! Normal things!

Seriously though, thank you thank you thank you, from the very bottom of my heart. It was all for the fans. I hope you’ll continue to follow Alex and I’s adventures, whether that be somehow more Baman Piderman or maybe even into new animated shows and beyond. Our dream has always been to make great animation for everyone together, and that’s just what we’re going to keep on doing.

I can’t express just how much investment I’m putting into the phrases “for a while” and “further notice” and such right now. Doing that never turns out well for me, but once again I can’t help it.

It’s a shame how the profit-driven aspects of entertainment tend to let so many creative, unique things slip through the cracks into obscurity. If something is too “weird” or “out there” because it doesn’t fit a tried-and-true cliché of a theme, or something that has a story that grows and becomes more engaging over time instead of gratifying the viewer in full right away, onto the cutting-room floor it goes. So many reviews said ParaNorman didn’t know if it was for kids or adults. Same for Rango. And NBC’s Community (a show that’s nigh-impenetrable if you don’t watch from the beginning, but downright brilliant) is waiting for its Dan-Harmon-less 13-episode Friday-timeslot 4th season to start someday. I always want to blame the company running the financial end, whether it’s NBC or Mondo or whoever, but it just seems to be some cruel facet of reality…

If I could change anything about the world, though, the average Internet-goer could stumble upon a video with chubby superheroes rambling disjointedly about movies and sandwiches, and as they would begin to move on, they would get a subconscious reminder that you never can tell which show will blossom from two pseudo-superheroes on a blank slate into an intricate, engaging story with ghosts and humanoid-bodied pumpkins and morally dubious doppelgangers and a lion that dwarfs mountains, with plot points that are hinted at a whole season in advance, and the kind of emotion and heart you rarely see in a web series. Then they would opt to keep tabs on it, just in case.

As ever, though, I’m beginning to ramble. Regardless of what happens, I want to thank both Lindsay and Alex for entertaining us so well for the last few years. And of course I’m always hoping for the best.

I don’t know how to end this, but I’m getting a lump in my throat (no doubt from eating a big steak or something tough and manly like that), so I’ll just sign off I guess. Best wishes.

I thought he was counting weeks?

That could well be. He did have a job after all, and by extension a schedule.

That raises some interesting (re: unimportant) implications though, that he has a 7-day cycle. Does he have specific tasks that he only has to do every 7 days? Or maybe he worked the equivalent of Monday-to-Friday and got weekends off, like a 40-hour week on Earth would be? I wonder what Jack does with his weekends.

Maybe I’ll make a comic about Jack enjoying his weekends.
